Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, a member of electronic pioneers Yellow Magic Orchestra and frequent collaborator with Fennesz, has been diagnosed with cancer, as BrooklynVegan reports. Along with his various film and event scores, Sakamoto has collaborated with the likes of Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Iggy Pop, Thomas Dolby, and Arto Lindsay, among others.
